Rode out the door in the morning and around the North side of the lake, it was raining very heavy at times and lots of hills. Hotel Mystica is right on the western side of the lake, our first stop was after a short burst uphill at the small town of Nuevo Arenal, 10 miles down, 30 to go. Next stop was for hot chocolate, next to a Hostel called Toad Hall, the guides provide Gatorade, oat bars and fresh fruit at most stops which we love. This stop was a nice cafe overlooking rain forest and a banana plantation, they had bird feeders and the variety of birds we saw was amazing, hummingbirds, finches, parakeets, toucans, vultures, chickens and a host of brightly colour small birds I do not know the names of.
20 miles to go, the next stop was the dam wall where we had another fruit break and watch some people walking on water - flyboarding, on the way we saw a family of Coatimundis (Raccoons). The finally 10 miles was heading East to the small town of La Fortuna right next to Volcan Arenal, we rode straight to the door of Villas Vilma, our hotel for the next two nights. It was a hard ride today but gratifying.
After showering we went into La Fourtuna for a look around, bought bike gloves and postcards. Had a early dinner the pork ribs were delicious. We had a very early night. Villa Vilma reminds us of staying in caravan parks when we were little.
